PRESS RELEASE - Critics Choice Vacations has earned the Virtuoso Voyages Specialist Designation
VIRTUOSO® ANNOUNCES SUSAN BOEHNSTEDT HAS EARNED THE VIRTUOSO VOYAGES SPECIALIST DESIGNATION

Virtuoso Voyages Specialist Designation Identifies Knowledgeable Cruise Advisors
Phoenix, Arizona (26 Jun, 2017) – Virtuoso® has introduced a new training and certification program, Virtuoso Voyages Specialist, to ensure travel advisors are confident and knowledgeable experts and to foster a community of excellence among participating advisors and cruise partners. This year Virtuoso Voyages will offer more than 525 hosted sailings on luxury ocean lines and river and specialty cruises, with shore events in 87 ports in 46 countries.

In recognition of successfully completing all the requirements and training, Virtuoso® has designated Susan Boehnstedt (with 30 years in the travel business) as an inaugural Virtuoso Voyages Specialist. “Travel advisors who achieve a Virtuoso Voyages Specialist designation are uniquely qualified to provide expert consultation to travelers who want to book a cruise.” said David Powers, Director, Cruise Programs at Virtuoso, “I am very excited and proud that Susan has earned the Virtuoso Voyages Specialist designation.” Visit her website for more details: Critics Choice Vacations and you can read recent client reviews here: Virtuoso Reviews - Susan Boehnstedt

Virtuoso Voyages features a level of customization unique in the industry, with generous benefits worth up to $800 per couple. The program provides bespoke options that include an exclusive shore event with a fine-dining experience, an in-port tour with a private car and driver, credit towards a private shore excursion, or a shipboard credit. A knowledgeable Virtuoso host accompanies each departure and welcomes network clients to two private onboard social events, including a new mid-cruise get together that permits inspired clients to book their next cruise while still enjoying their current one.

With 12 participating cruise lines, Virtuoso Voyages now enjoys the highest number of partners in the program’s history. The addition of AmaWaterways this year addresses the enormous growth Virtuoso has reported in river and specialty cruising, while also complementing more traditional ocean cruising. These new lines join the six existing participants: Azamara Club Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Cunard Line, Holland America Line, Oceania Cruises, Paul Gauguin Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Seabourn, Silversea Cruises, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection and Windstar Cruises. The addition of Tauck and Star Clippers in 2018 will further augment Virtuoso Voyages river and specialty cruise offerings.

The Virtuoso Voyages program began in 1990 with a mere 15 sailings; 27 years later, 17,000 Virtuoso clients benefit from the complimentary program annually, and their satisfaction with it remains impressively high. Past passengers gave the program a 98.3 percent approval rating, while 94 percent said the program is an important consideration in their future travel plans. Virtuoso Voyages, with its benefits from luxury and premium cruise lines, plays a significant role in ensuring the loyalty of these high-value cruise clients while cultivating new ones. A network analysis found that luxury cruise enthusiasts typically spend more than two times the amount of the average cruise client, and the most active 20 percent of Virtuoso’s cruise clients account for 60 percent of cruise sales.

Like so many other parents this Fall, my husband and I became “Empty Nesters”. Our baby girl, and youngest of three was heading off to college and we were faced with the reality of being alone for the first time in 26 years. We decided that this was a life milestone that we should observe, rather than dread. We had spent years devoting endless time and energy to our children and now they were all out in the world as healthy, happy, productive members of society. We had much to celebrate. So, after dropping our daughter off at college we traveled to Montana’s Paradise Valley and spent a few days at Sage Lodge to mark this special occasion. Montana’s Paradise Valley starts near Livingston, which sits on I-90, and stretches south along highway 89 towards Yellowstone National Park. It is the major river valley of the Yellowstone River and is flanked by the Gallatin and Absaroka Ranges. Highway 89 was the original entrance into Yellowstone National Park, although there are now two additional entrances, one each in Montana and Wyoming. Along with its unmatched beauty and world-class fly fishing on the river, the valley also offers other natural wonders such as several natural hot springs.

Ernest Hemingway once described Switzerland as “a small, steep country, much more up and down than sideways, and stuck all over with large brown hotels built on the cuckoo clock style of architecture.” Susan’s recent travels between Geneva and Zurich proves that a lot has changed in the Swiss hotel scene since Hemingway’s observation. While she has lots of experience setting up pre- and post-river cruise activities and private trips in the area, this “self-imposed” familiarization was to acquaint herself with Virtuoso’s Swiss properties. Susan’s excited to share her thoughts on this diverse list of hotels, as well as the historic cities they call home.

This past fall, Susan was invited to sit on the Advisory Board for the German National Tourism Offices out of New York City. In partnership to boost tourism to Germany, she toured two of the country’s most iconic cities. From the eclectic coffee and artistic scenes of Hamburg, to an exploration of the tumultuous history of Berlin, there was a lot to take in. Susan hopes her journey will shed light on why Germany should be the destination of your next European vacation. Below you’ll find some incredible places to stay, cuisine to sample, and experiences that will put the discovery of German culture at the forefront of your travels.

With Paris and Rome, London forms the trifecta of must-visit cities for those first taking the dive into European culture. A hub of history, politics, architecture (both very old and very new), and the arts, London has a little bit to offer everyone. This November, Susan had the opportunity to tour over a dozen of the city’s best boutique hotels so you know where to stay during your visit. In addition, Susan also toured some of the charming villages that surround London that are perfect for a day trip, or quick weekend, to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. She hopes her exploration of this British metropolis will help you know where to start when planning your first (or next) European getaway.
